I arrived at Cornerstone Church the last Sunday of June 2003 fulfilling a dream to be part of a Christian community serious about reaching their community with the love of Jesus. Being a nearly life-long resident of the Cincinnati area helped in the transition as well!
I grew up in the southeast suburbs of Cincinnati, attending Anderson High School and a large youth ministry at Anderson Hills UMC where I encountered the real Jesus in a personal way. It was a 1979 week long mission trip to Haiti that God used as a watershed to move me toward His call on my life. Of course, I didn’t go to the youth group for Jesus but rather for girls. Turns out I found both! I met my wife, Stephanie, there.
After graduating from the University of Cincinnati and getting married, Stephanie and I moved to Wilmore, Kentucky to attend Asbury Seminary for the next three years.
My love for missions and teaching have given me some awesome opportunities to be in ministry around the world. From leading dozens of youth mission trips, to an 8-day teaching mission in Ukraine, to being an adjunct professor for two years at Winebrenner Seminary in Findlay, Ohio to being reunited with the country of Haiti through OMS, International and teaching at the Emmaus Seminary in Cap Haitien I am in awe of God’s plans for my life.
My dream is to be part of a Christian community that sees itself in mission where Jesus told us to be in mission: at home, nearby, in unlikely places and in far away lands (Acts 1:8 ). That is what Cornerstone is becoming. Please feel free to follow my weekly thoughts on my blog.
Stephanie and I are the proud parents of three children: Kathryn, Caroline and John.
