Missions Ministry
Jesus modeled a life of mercy and compassion, and as we follow His example, the lives we touch are touched by God and our lives are filled with purpose and power.
Mission work isn't as frightening as some may think, and you won't need to pack your suitcase and update your passport to get started. There's a place nearby to use your talents to reach God's world with the love of Christ.
In Acts 1:8 Jesus gave us our marching orders: 'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.'
Jesus' call on our lives is to live as witnesses to His mercy and compassion in places close to home (Jerusalem), in neighboring areas (Judea), in places we'd rather avoid (Samaria) and to the whole world (ends of the earth). This is not multiple choice.
Here at Cornerstone we have two main areas of mission work: Local and Global. We serve our community through multiple ministry opportunities but we are strategically partnered with 3 ministries:
- Hamilton Living Water Ministries, Inc
- Orphan Resources International – Guatemala
- One Mission Society - Haiti
Through these partnerships as well as other local ministries, you can find a way to serve as a witness for Jesus whether it's your first time considering serving in missions or you've already packed your bags and been out of the country.

to serve or for more information. This is a great place to serve for individuals, couples, families or a small group. Krista Rothert serves as our personal connection with Serve City.

Volunteers spend the day raking leaves, clearing gutters, cleaning windows, or putting outdoor furniture away for the winter. Our desire is to enable our senior residents to stay in their homes as long as possible. Step forward and help them with the chores they can't do themselves. RASKALS events occur on the first Saturday of November and the first Saturday of May each year.

Great Easter Outreach
While Christians are preparing to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus we choose to live out His ministry by feeding 2000 people. Individuals and families at Cornerstone fill bags with groceries and then on Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter) we disperse throughout our community to deliver the bags to needy families. Families names are given to us through HLWM, Butler County United Way, and a couple of schools in the area. We encourage delivery to include a time of prayer with each family. So grab a bag, fill a bag (instructions included) and deliver a bag to change your world. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Great Thanksgiving Outreach
Just like our Great Easter Outreach, at Thanksgiving we deliver between 250-300 bags of groceries to needy families in our community. The Sunday before Thanksgiving Day we go out to love our community in this practical way. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Hamilton Block Party
Each summer Cornerstone Church partners with several other United Methodist congregations to serve the people surrounding the HLWM area in this fun and practical way. Food, games, and fellowship are on the menu as we seek to build rapport with the community and a bridge to Christ through – PASTOR & CHURCH.
Serving happens through donations, running games, face painting, set-up, tear-down, prayer walks, prayerfully seeking out conversations, cooking, serving food, and talking with people. Contact Sarah Horvatich ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for more information on how you can love people this summer.
Back 2 School Project
In partnership with Hamilton Living Water Ministries, each year we help around 70 children get necessary and helpful supplies for school including new shoes, clothes, book bags, paper, pencils and crayons. You can serve a number of different ways in this ministry: purchase a pair of shoes, a book bag or some supplies – serve as a guide on “the big day” in August – contact community businesses to solicit their partnership – pray. Global Missions
ORI (www.orphanresources.org) partners with over 38 orphanages in Guatemala. Our partnership with them focuses first on the Fundaninos Orphanage where we provide support in the financial amount of $600 per child per year (last year there were 55 children). Teams do construction projects, play with children (perhaps the most important thing we do), support the staff, and are introduced to other orphanages and ministries during trips – which occur each summer. Fred Ricketts serves as our Guatemala representative. He can be contacted through the missions team - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
OMS (www.onemissionsociety.org) is a church planting and evangelism ministry based in Greenwood, IN. For 60+ years OMS has been serving Haiti from their base in Cap Haitian. We partner with them in sponsoring children (www.Starfishkids.org), to operate Radio 4VEH (www.4VEH.org), construction projects, evangelism trips, medical trips to the Bethesda Emmaus Clinic and with the Emmaus Biblical Seminary. Trips typically occur in the week before or after Easter each year. John & Kathy Snyder serve as our representatives with OMS. The Live Simply Project (CLICK HERE for latest info)
In 2004 we decided to be generous when we were in need. We gave away our Christmas Eve offering, something that most churches use to make up year end financial needs. God has blessed us for that step of faith. That was the birth of the Live Simply Project. Each Advent season (the 4 weeks before Christmas) we challenge Cornerstone to spend less on Christmas gifts and give away the same amount they spend on themselves. Our motto is simple: “Live more simply so that others might simply live.”
Through Live Simply we are actively resisting the consumer culture that can draw us in and drain the life of Jesus from our hearts. It's a year round lifestyle we seek, not a four week mission project.
Live Simply supports the Fundaninos Orphanage in Guatemala as our first priority each year. Persons can also sponsor children in Haiti through Starfish Kids. The general offering each year alternates between Guatemala (odd years) and Haiti (even years). This part of the Live Simply Offering is given to the ministry designated by the missionaries serving with ORI or OMS – Haiti.
Since 2004 Cornerstone has given over $400,000 to make a difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor in our world. We are trying to follow in Jesus' footsteps to be good news to the poor (Isaiah 61, Luke 4).
