Pastor Jeff Raker - Lead Pastor
I arrived at Cornerstone Church the last Sunday of June 2003 fulfilling a dream to be part of a Christian community serious about reaching their community with the love of Jesus. Being a nearly life-long resident of the Cincinnati area helped in the transition as well!
I grew up in the southeast suburbs of Cincinnati, attending Anderson High School and a large youth ministry at Anderson Hills UMC where I encountered the real Jesus in a personal way. It was a 1979 week long mission trip to Haiti that God used as a watershed to move me toward His call on my life. Of course, I didn’t go to the youth group for Jesus but rather for girls. Turns out I found both! I met my wife, Stephanie, there.
After graduating from the University of Cincinnati and getting married, Stephanie and I moved to Wilmore, Kentucky to attend Asbury Seminary for the next three years.
My love for missions and teaching have given me some awesome opportunities to be in ministry around the world. From leading dozens of youth mission trips, to an 8-day teaching mission in Ukraine, to being an adjunct professor for two years at Winebrenner Seminary in Findlay, Ohio to being reunited with the country of Haiti through OMS, International and teaching at the Emmaus Seminary in Cap Haitien I am in awe of God’s plans for my life.
My dream is to be part of a Christian community that sees itself in mission where Jesus told us to be in mission: at home, nearby, in unlikely places and in far away lands (Acts 1:8). That is what Cornerstone is becoming.
Stephanie and I are the proud parents of three children: Kathryn, Caroline and John.
Jennifer Bailey - Discipleship & Care Pastor
Hi my name is Jennifer and I have the privilege of leading discipleship and care ministries. Discipleship includes all adult Bible studies, study groups, small groups that meet in homes, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, and singles ministry. Care ministry includes support groups, our visitation team, meal ministry team, Stephen Ministries, prayer team, card team, fellowship, and pastoral care.
My mission here at Cornerstone is to help people find a place to deepen their relationship with God. If you are looking for a place like that, call me (513-874-0910 ext. 12) or email me (

)! I’d love to help you find a group or workshop that will fit your needs and schedule.
God called me into ministry in 1998 when I was working as a mechanical engineer. People always ask how God chose an engineer and I just chuckle and say, “Well, Jesus first called fishermen, a tax collector, and a political zealot among others, so hey why not?!” I’ve been on staff at Cornerstone since July 2006. I love serving here because it’s such a dynamic and culturally-relevant church. My husband, Bob, and I have lived in Liberty Township for nine years. We have two of the most wonderful toddlers in the world (wink), Teresa and Dominic. My passions include very contemporary Christian music, baking, international news, and giggle-provoking games with my kids. I also delight in listening to people share stories about “God-moments".
Jim Weible - Worship Leader
I came to Cornerstone in November of 2004 after serving in some form of ministry and church consulting for nearly 20 years. I was raised in a Christian home and began my personal relationship at the age of eight. I learned a lot about both God and a wide variety of creative arts throughout my formative years. God orchestrated a series of events and decisions which resulted in my getting a degree in Vocal Performance and soon afterward being mentored into full time ministry by some incredible people and pastors. I have been privileged to serve in several different music and worship positions in the Dayton and Cincinnati area and I continue to learn and be blessed by the incredible people here at Cornerstone.
I am divorced and have shared custody of my two children, Charis and Levi. I enjoy playing and singing a wide variety of musical styles, seeing other bands play live, and spending time with friends and family.
Tony West - Director of Student Ministries
Children's Ministry Director
Prayerfully searching for a new staff person
Sarah Horvatich - Office Manager
My name is Sarah and I’m the Office Manager/Church Secretary here at Cornerstone. I joined the staff on January 1, 2000. I have one husband, Tim, to whom I’ve been married 37 years (I’m still amazed he puts up with me) and one son, Tim, Jr. who is 33 and a great guy.
It is my joy to serve the congregation and staff here. My job consists of database, bulletins, phones, children, staff, congregational members and just about anything else that comes along. I have even been known to scrub a floor or plunge a toilet. I am here to help facilitate the behind the scenes items that help the church be effective and share the love of Jesus with the community and the world.
My favorite thing is to serve people. Tim and I are both very active on the Missions Team and I coordinate the local missions area of that team. My main “gigs” are the Great Thanksgiving Outreach and the Great Easter Outreach. You’ll find me there, in some kind of hat, enjoying the ministry of sharing Christ’s love. My favorite quote is from Mother Teresa…”I can do no great things…only small things with great love.”
Jessica Davis - Director of Early Childhood Ministries
Jessica joined Cornerstone Church staff in 2007 as the Director of Mom’s Day Out. She doubled the program to accommodate twice as many children by adding an afternoon program. She currently holds the position of Asst. Director of Early Childhood Ministries encompassing the direction of all programming during the week and Sundays for children birth-Kindergarten. Jessica’s education background includes a BA in the College of Education from Wright State University. Her husband and two boys have resided in West Chester for 6 years.
Denise Taylor - Cornerstone Christian Preschool Director

I came to Cornerstone in July of 2003 to work as Director of the Preschool. Cornerstone Christian Preschool offers part-time care for children ages 3-5. CCP was founded on the scripture, “Let the little children come to me …” and I strive to fulfill that commandment. I have been working in Early Childhood Education since 1981. I started as a teacher in a toddler classroom, moved up to a three’s class then taught four year olds until becoming a Director in 1996. My goal at CCP is to provide a loving, caring atmosphere for young children to learn about God while laying a foundation of social and readiness skills. I’m thrilled Cornerstone allows me this opportunity.
My husband Mike and I live in Lebanon. We have two grown sons. Our oldest son lives in Mississippi with his wife and our youngest lives in Hyde Park. When I’m not working at the Preschool, I enjoy teaching the children in my home church, jogging, and shopping with friends.
Sherri Hancock - Cornerstone Christian Preschool Assistant Director
My name is Sherri Hancock. I have worked here on staff at CUMC since January, 1999 and currently am the Assistant Director for Cornerstone Christian Preschool. I live in West Chester with my husband Bob and my two sons. Alex, my oldest son, is a freshman in high school and he enjoys scouting, band, and science clubs. Zack, my youngest son, is a fifth grader and he enjoys scouting, basketball, and baseball. We also have a dog, also a boy! His name is Klaus and he enjoys naps, eating, and walks! Outside of work and attending church here at CUMC, my hobbies include reading, walking, knitting (beginning to teach myself) and spending time with my family.
